Beirut-based pan-Arab publishing house shows growth in a distressed market

The publishing house Bespoke International - the creators of Bespoke magazine, the Middle East's leading luxury lifestyle magazine - has shown earnings growth despite the ongoing global recession.

"Though many other magazines have disappeared from the shelves in these tough times, our own advertising revenues have actually increased. We anticipate that we will remain in positive growth territory throughout this global recession and financial turmoil."

says Nicolas Shammas, the company's Managing Director.

The company started with its first title, Bespoke back in 2007. Since then it has become one of the leading magazines in the region, with well researched editorial and strategic distribution with presence in hotels such as the Four Seasons hotels regionally and on board private jets.

Bespoke Magazine Continued to be a trailblazer in the region offering incisive and relevant features on a wealth of issues. "2009 was our best year yet, the bar has been raised to new heights," explains Shammas. "Our writers continued to deliver thought-provoking articles on anything from exclusive interviews with Zaha Hadid to the Arab inventor of iPod."

By 2008, Bespoke international's capabilities attracted the attention of Abdul Latif Jameel and together they launched the new Lexus magazine to grow and consolidate the car manufacturer's sizeable Saudi Arabian loyalty program. "What has been evident is the market correction that has driven advertisers to quality, content-driven publications that have a clear and recognizable readership."

Bespoke international is showing no signs of slowing down with European franchisees of Bespoke and new titles for the region in the pipeline; such as the third title, Rosewood magazine, an in-house magazine for the regional Rosewood hotel chain.

2010 promises to hit new heights. We're maintaining our high standards and will continue to bring you magazines you want to read. Our writers are always out there investigating the issues that matter, talking to the people who shape the region. "By the end of this year we will have at least two major developments within Bespoke International, we're sure you'll love them."
