Asiacell launches its voice SMS service

After conducting extensive market research on consumer demands and trends in the Iraqi market, and as part of their continuous efforts to present all that is new, Asiacell, the large private Iraqi company and the first and only mobile telecommunications company to provide coverage for all of Iraq, announced the launch of its new voice SMS service that enables all Asiacell subscribers to uniquely communicate by sending simple and private voice messages.

Asiacell subscribers can activate this service free of charge by calling *700* and entering the number they wish to send the voice message to, and then recording the voice message by following the given directions.

Each voice message can reach a length of 30 seconds and costs 4 cents for prepaid Asiacell subscribers, and 3 cents for postpaid subscribers.

Subscribers can access and listen to sent voice messages by dialing 700, and can receive up to 15 voice messages which will be saved for 14 days in their voicemail inbox on their mobile phones.

Commenting on this service, Dr. Diar Ahmed, Asiacell's CEO, said:
