Abu Dhabi Center for Corporate Governance announces the first Abu Dhabi Corporate Governance Conference

The Abu Dhabi Center for Corporate Governance (ADCCG), which aims to effectively promote and positively contribute to the development of the national economy by introducing highest standards and practices of corporate governance, has today announced its 1st Annual Conference on Corporate Governance in the UAE.

The annual conference, which is scheduled to be held on October 14, 2009 at the Hilton Hotel in Abu Dhabi is titled "Corporate Governance in the UAE: Current Realities. Future Prospects" and is expected to bring together renowned corporate governance professionals and specialists from in the Middle East region. The key objective of the conference is to explore the current states of the implementation of Corporate Governance in the UAE and highlight key highlight the importance of Corporate Governance, particularly in today's challenging economic environment.

Elaborating on ADCCG's 1st Annual Conference, H.E Khalfan Saeed Al Kaabi, Chairman, Abu Dhabi Center for Corporate Governance said

"Corporate Governance, in recent years, has achieved international prominence as it has proven to be of strategic benefit for various establishments. In today's challenging economic environment, we at ADCCG align prevailing economic issues into strategic corporate governance context through proven expertise, in order to avoid similar crises in the future"


The one day annual conference will be attended by various business heads, board members, CEOs, top senior executives, academicians and professionals of similar caliber from across the region. The content of the conference seminars will explore various angles of Corporate Governance including legal and political issues and the possible challenges of implementation. It will also aim to address the possible reforms in the code and highlight the experiences of companies in their efforts to implement corporate governance policies.

ADCCG, which has been established by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), advocates the strategic development and adaptation of innovative corporate governance practices, designed to enhance the economic competitiveness of Abu Dhabi. This is achieved primarily by raising awareness, professional development, and providing consultancy and advisory services to businesses and government entities.

Commenting on the organisation of the conference, Khalid Deeb, Director General, Abu Dhabi Center for Corporate Governance said "At ADCCG, it has been our sole endeavour to provide advisory services to organisations' keen on incorporating fundamentals and practices of corporate governance. Our 1st Annual Conference will provide greater insights into significant issues by exploring the key challenges and identifying necessary changes required to strengthen the overall corporate governance sector in the UAE."
