- PRESS RELEASE
Under the Patronage of HRH Prince Firas Bin Raad and in partnership with the Greater Amman Municipality, the International Dead Sea Ultra Marathon is set to take place on Friday April 5, 2013. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Marathon is expected to attract over 10,000 runners representing 52 nationalities, cementing its position as a national and international athletic, touristic and charitable event.
HRH Prince Firas Bin Raad, Head of the Neurological Society, stated, "Over the past 20 years, The Dead Sea Ultra Marathon has witnessed continued growth and international recognition - and we are proud of what has been achieved.
He added, "The success of the Marathon would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, volunteers and media representatives - all of whom contribute enormously in making the Marathon a very enjoyable and exciting event. We are all looking forward to this event in the Spring."
Founded in 1986, the Neurological Society was headed by HRH Princess Majda Raad until 1995, when HRH Prince Firas took over. Its primary aim is to assist needy neurological patients by providing them with financial help for necessary surgical procedures, and to increase awareness of neurological diseases and traumas.
The Society is expanding its role in the treatment of neurological patients and becoming a developmental organization by creating social and technical programs in cooperation with related official and non-official sectors.
