RTA "Roaming Bus" to promote the use of public transport

The Public Transport Agency at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) launched, at the end of the first half of this year, a promotional campaign billed as the "Roaming Bus"; whereby a public bus is deployed to make regular tours and visits to promote the use of public transport modes in general and buses in particular among the strategic partners of the RTA including government and semi-government departments as well as private companies.

The CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency Eisa Abdul Rahman Al Dosari summarized the purpose of the campaign as: "The primary objective of Mobile Bus campaign is to increase public bus ridership among the employees of RTA strategic partners through urging them to use public transport as a means of mobility rather than their private vehicles.

"The process included briefing the employees of government and semi-government departments as well as private companies on the top class technical specifications and the superb reliability, safety and security features of RTA buses imported from the best specialized bus manufacturers worldwide.

"Buses comprise three types; standard, articulated and double deckers and are driven by highly skilful drivers well trained on the courteous methods of dealing with passengers and serving commuters from the different sectors of the community.

"To achieve the intended objectives of the Roaming Bus, and in coordination with RTA Marketing & Corporate Communication Dep't, we have worked out a comprehensive marketing plan envisaging the allocation of a new bus from the Agency to be fitted with promotional internal & external posters to lure the public to use public buses, and setting locations on board the bus for displaying bus routes and schedules in the emirate of Dubai."

Through this marketing media of the Roaming Bus, a number of employees of RTA strategic partners have been offered special tours around the emirate of Dubai to give them a taste of the features and fun of mobility on board public buses in terms of physical & psychological relief to users.

A team of Mobility Management Programs Section, Planning & Business Development Dep't at Public Transport Agency attends to explaining the comfortable and enjoyable features of using public buses.

The Roaming Bus campaign runs throughout the year in accordance with an accurate time frame, and the results are appraised periodically so as to benefit from this experience in developing the mechanism of the campaign, and enriching it with new and more effective concepts & proposals.
