Crescent Petroleum's Badr Jafar named Young CEO of the Year 2009

Badr Jafar, Executive Director of the Crescent Petroleum Group of companies, and Executive Chairman of GasCities LLC last night received the 'Young CEO of the Year' award for 2009 during a prestigious ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai.

Organized by ITP Executive, the CEO Middle East Awards recognize and reward industry leaders, high achievers and innovators from across the Middle East, and Jafar was acknowledged for his achievements and the demonstration of leadership and commitment to advancing the various strategic goals of the organisations for which he is responsible.

On receiving the Award, Jafar, said:

"I very much appreciate the recognition from other members of the business community and my peers in the Region, especially considering the great many leaders and exemplary CEOs in our community, and am very fortunate to work within an environment that encourages entrepreneurship and excellence on many different levels."


In addition to his role as Executive Director at Crescent Petroleum, Jafar serves as CEO of Crescent Investments, a strategic investment firm with wide and diversified operations and interests in a multitude of industries. He is also the Executive Chairman of Gas Cities LLC, a joint venture between Crescent Petroleum and Dana Gas, and is Chairman of Pearl Petroleum, a joint venture between Crescent Petroleum, Dana Gas, OMV of Austria and MOL of Hungary.

Aside from his core business in oil and gas, Jafar is involved in a number of other industries, including aviation - serving as a Board Member of Gama Aviation (UK); ports and logistics - serving as a Board Member of Gulftainer Ltd, the Middle East's largest private container port operator; real estate - serving as a Board Member of Enshaa PSC (UAE); and private equity - serving as a Board Member of Growthgate Capital (Bahrain).

Badr Jafar is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, holding a Master's Degree in Engineering and a Business Degree from the Judge Business School of the same university.
