India to have major presence at Food & Hotel Oman 2009

Food & Hotel Oman 2009, an international exhibition for the sultanate's vibrant food and hospitality sector, will prominently feature an Indian pavilion with the full support of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).

Organised by Omanexpo LLC, Food & Hotel Oman 2009 will be held on October 26-28 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Seeb.

The three-day event will showcase a wide range of food and beverage, kitchen and catering equipment, hotel equipment and supplies, food packaging products as well as products and services related to agriculture and fisheries.

"We look forward with anticipation to our participation in Food & Hotel Oman 2009 because the event will be an excellent platform for us to promote various types of high-quality products made by Indian companies for the food and hospitality industry in Oman,"


said S.S. Chawla, senior director of ASSOCHAM.

Established in 1920 and based in New Delhi, ASSOCHAM is India's premier apex chamber with a total membership of over 200,000 companies and professionals across the subcontinent. It is also made up of more than more than 300 chambers and trade associations representing all regions of India. As a representative body of Corporate India, ASSOCHAM articulates the genuine, legitimate needs and interests of its members, and its mission is to impact the policy and legislative environment so as to foster balanced economic, industrial and social development.

At Food & Hotel Oman 2009, ASSOCHAM will be bringing in a delegation of Indian companies, including JS International, Agrigold Foods, Optics Technology, and HCS Enterprises. The products that will be on display at the Indian pavilion will include bakery equipment, laboratory instruments for testing food products, cutlery, chafing dishes and other tableware for hotels and restaurants.

Also to be showcased are a wide range of whole spice powders such as chili and turmeric powder, blended spice powders including various types of masalas, and instant snack food mixes.

Diab pointed out that in addition to India, many other countries will be represented at Food & Hotel Oman 2009, and these include China, Germany, Italy, Jordan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the UAE and the U.S.

All major local companies directly serving the food and hotel industry in Oman has also already confirmed their participation, making it the biggest and much-awaited event for this industry sector.

Food & Hotel Oman 2009 is officially endorsed by the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OCCI), and it is supported by AKAH Najwani & Partners LLC as the major sponsor, Salman Hotel and Restaurant Equipment LLC as the platinum sponsor, and ELCO National Trading Co.
