Travel agents who sign up for the free programme can explore the very latest functionalities and shortcuts available on the GDSs, equipping them with important technology skills that will enable them to increase their productivity and better serve their customers.

Suitable for all levels, the customized e-learning programme offers a self-paced curriculum focussed on some of the most widely-used features of the systems, including ticketing, airline bookings, seat confirmations, ticket refunds, and hotel and car reservations.

According to Travelport, travel agents in the Middle East, who prefer booking through the GDS channel, can provide an even more customer-centric service to travellers by fully leveraging the myriad of Galileo and Worldspan learning resources available online and enhancing their overall understanding of the company's innovative technology.

"Many travel agents in the Middle East are using a limited set of entries when booking travel and are not aware of the infinite capabilities of the GDS. Our eLearning portal empowers travel agents in the region by equipping them with practical knowledge that will help them save time and maximize their use of the platform."

commented Rabih Saab, Vice-President of Travelport GDS in the Middle East.

Through the development of the skills they learn online, travel agents can not only boost their productivity and customer service, but can enhance their employability within the region's rapidly evolving travel industry.

"At Travelport, we are committed to skills development for travel agents and are working closely with the trade to provide them with the tools they need for continued success," added Saab.

Recognizing the importance of training in order to meet the evolving requirements of the travel industry, Travelport has strategically invested in comprehensive training throughout the region to equip the trade with the right technology resources.

In addition to the eLearning portal, Travelport offers the multi-lingual online help facility 'Ask Travelport' for both Galileo and Worldspan users, connecting travel agents with quick and easy responses to thousands of Frequently Asked Questions about the operation of these systems.

Travelport boasts state-of-the art training centers across the region and provides direct service and support to Travelport-connected agents in the UAE, Egypt and KSA, including a 24/7 help desk for round-the-clock assistance.
