With the theme Celebrate Interior Design, the world's biggest gathering of interior design professionals is being staged for the first time in the region, hosted by APID - Association of Professional Interior Designers.

As the leading flooring specialist and interiors solutions provider in the region, Shahriar Khodjasteh, Group Marketing Director of Al Aqili Furnishings, says it makes a lot of sense for the company to be a part of this landmark event - a first in the Middle East, and the biggest gathering of interior design practitioners.

Khodjasteh adds:
"We are proud to support the World Interior Design Congress as Platinum Sponsors and are looking forward to interacting with some of the industry's leading practitioners. Their choice of Dubai as the venue of their first gathering in the region speaks volumes about the interior design industry in the UAE and without doubt this will be one of the most successful ever."

Organised by Dubai-based Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID), the Congress will run alongside the 24th General Assembly of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) where more than 2000 practitioners and students of interior design are expected to attend.

Ross Lovegrove, known as 'Captain Organic' and a pioneer of industrial design, will join other renowned interior design pioneers and experts, such as Italian architect Piero Lissoni and UK-based industrial and product design specialist Sebastian Conran as they tackle the challenges and opportunities facing the industry amidst the ongoing crisis and beyond

The choice of Dubai as the venue for this important industry gathering is a testament to how far the interior design sector has grown in this part of the world. And it could not have come at a more appropriate time - as the global economic slowdown impacts heavily on the property and construction markets elsewhere, Dubai offers a sturdy refuge, with 2009 proving to be an outstanding year with $43bn confirmed contracts to date, and is even expected to grow by as much as 40% in 2010 according to independent research company Proleads.

"We are delighted to have Al Aqili Furnishings as a Platinum Sponsor for the World Interior Design Congress in Dubai this year. Al Aqili Furnishings are the leader in the furnishing industry and therefore are in perfect synergy with our goal to bring the worlds leading interior designers together to Celebrate Interior Design," commented Ken Laidler, President, APID.

Since established in 1997, Al Aqili Furnishings has and continues to consistently deliver value, innovation and premium brands. With a reputation for uncompromising quality and dedicated service, the company has furnished and fitted some of the region's most prestigious projects and has become a stakeholder of the region's most famous landmarks and businesses.

"This sponsorship opportunity is testament to our commitment to supporting the growth of the local Interior Design Community. The event will help to place the region at the heart of the interior design world and gain trust of global interior designers and we look forward to the continued growth year on year, concluded Khodjasteh."
