- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, October 03 - 2009 at 15:48
- PRESS RELEASE
The Games Alliance Middle East Show 2009 (GAMES 09), a collaboration between Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation, Pluto and Red Entertainment Distribution, opens today to the public at Dubai Festival City.
The three day consumer exhibition will showcase some of the most eagerly anticipated gaming titles of the year including FIFA 10, DJ Hero, Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Assassin's Creed 2.
The show will be the only opportunity in the Middle East for gamers to preview the games before their scheduled releases later this year.
The GAMES 09 trade and media day was concluded last night by a gala dinner that saw the regions retailers and software developers come together for an awards ceremony and speeches by some of the industry's top names. David Reeves, who retired in April this year from his position as President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, honored the event as key note speaker as he addressed the current trends in the industry and his forecast for the future of gaming:
"The gaming industry is continuing to grow globally and with the introduction of female, family and party-oriented games such as Singstar and Buzz, the demographics of gamers is diversifying to include males and females of all ages,"
commented Reeves.
"I believe that GAMES 09 is a great chance for the gaming industry in the Middle East to have the platform to demonstrate their latest developments and I look forward to seeing the response from the crowd at the opening of the show tomorrow," Reeves concluded.
Following the success of GAMES 08, this year's show is set to be twice times the size of last years which was held in the Grand Hyatt. With each year's show growing bigger and better, GAMES 09 is the only arena in the region that allows gamers the chance to try out upcoming games before anyone else.
