Opening of the Bahrain Map flyovers Friday morning

The Ministry of Works is pleased to announce the opening of the Bahrain Map flyovers, both eastbound and westbound, for public traffic starting Friday morning, October 2nd 2009, revealed the Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Roads, Mr. Essam Abdulla Khalaf.
Mr. Khalaf also announced that The signalized intersection of Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Highway and Abdul Rahman Bin Jassim Kanoo Avenue (near Al Ahli Sports Club) will remain operational for one more week until other temporary traffic diversions underneath the flyovers are completed.
The intersection will then be permanently cancelled which will result in a free flow of westbound traffic between Umm Al Hassam Junction and King Fahad Causeway.
It is also announced that the remainder of the permanent road works underneath the flyovers are within five to six weeks of completion.
Upon completion, the signalized junction underneath the flyovers will resemble that of Seef flyover between Seef and Bahrain Malls Landscaping works along Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Highway. It will also include the re-placement of the Bahrain Map monument, which will take place between now and the end of the current year.
The Project's total cost is approximately Ten Million Bahraini Dinars, designed by the international consultant, Parsons Global Services Limited, and is being constructed by the local contractor Nass Contracting.
The project is part of efforts to realizing the nation's aspirations, including achieving a world-class Roads and Traffic Infrastructure.
