Commenting on Dow's participation at Petrochem Arabia 2009, Zuhair Allawi, Commercial Director for Dow Chemical in India, Middle East & Africa (IMEA) said,
"Dow's presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is characterized by landmark joint venture partnerships and opportunities that are helping to transform the Kingdom into a global petrochemicals powerhouse. But equally important is the fact that our highly customized, customer-focused technology solutions have the potential to add real, sustainable value to key industries that support and drive Saudi Arabia's ambitious growth plans."
Mr. Allawi will be a featured keynote speaker on the first full day of the conference at two separate events. During a panel discussion on "Meeting the Challenges Ahead in Saudi Arabia's Petrochemical Industry", Mr. Allawi will share his expert opinions on fully leveraging the Kingdom's strategic location to secure future growth, the advantages and disadvantages of diversifying product portfolios to include more complex and specialty chemicals products, and ensuring petrochemical product portfolios match export demand. He will moderate and present during an afternoon lecture session on the topic of "Technology, the Environment and Sustainability".
Dow has been present in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for over thirty years, beginning in 1976, when Dow established a distribution partnership with industrial conglomerate E.A. Juffali & Brothers. Since then, Saudi Arabia has played a critical role in shaping Dow's business approach in the Middle East region.
