DED launches new on-line service for faster trade licence renewal

To provide investors, company owners and PROs with more interactive and convenient tools, the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) has unveiled a new eService on its website, www.dubaided.gov.ae, aimed at faster trade licence renewals.

Online users of this service must register the company's tenancy contract with Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) and use the transaction number they attain while using DED's eService to renew their licences.

The new facility for online trade licence renewal is part of DED's commitment towards implementing eGovernment policies and is specially created to boost efficiency of operation and productivity.

"DED's mission is to strengthen businesses in Dubai, and the new eService highlights our commitment to achieve this through new technology tools. Our initiative would contribute to fulfilling Dubai's aspirations of becoming an e-driven economy,"


His Excellency Mr Sami Daen Al Qamzi, Director General, DED.

"DED continuously explores ways to improve and update its services, which will help boost customer service standards. Our objective is to position the DED at the forefront of employing technological advancements for the benefit of businesses," added Mr Al Qamzi.

Mr Mohammed Shael, CEO, Business Registration and Licensing Division, DED, said: "The DED will introduce new and innovative services on its website in the coming months to achieve greater effectiveness in performance and reduce cost burden both for the government and entrepreneurs."

"Customers who use DED's eServices to reserve, renew trade names and renew trade licences from October 4 to 15 will also have the chance to win one of eight laptops at special draws to be held at GITEX 2009." added Mr Shael.

The eServices offered by DED include the Transaction Status whereby customers can check the status by using a transaction number, licence number or initial approval number. Search Trade Names enables users to reserve trade names or find out if the desired name is already taken. Company Lookup helps to search for existing companies operating in Dubai and gain information on their contact details and business activities. The Number of Licences per Person Report is also available.

Through the Business Set up Simulator, potential investors can obtain an overview about setting up a new business in Dubai. Licence Renewal Cost Estimator allows existing companies to find out the cost of renewing their licences and Activity Search procedure helps users to understand more about the activities that are classified by DED.

Informative and easy-to-use, the web services feature descriptive help text, Arabic/English support and a friendly layout and design.
