The project is also supported by the Abu Dhabi Media Company and the Al Ain Municipality. This custom-fitted bus will be home to hundreds of books, both Arabic and English. These will include fiction and non-fiction titles, chosen with readers of all ages in mind.

The Bus will make its debut at Bawadi Mall in Al Ain on the first day of the Al Ain Reads (AAR) book show, Sunday, October 4. Throughout the book show visitors can board the bus between 9am and 2pm daily where they will be able to participate in storytelling sessions, meet authors and take some time out to indulge in reading a favourite book.

Each evening from 5pm to 9pm, the Bus will visit a different location in the Al Ain area to ensure that everyone can get on board. A complete schedule of visits will be available at the AAR book show information desk in Bawadi Mall.

On Tuesday, October 6, the Bus will host the Ambassador of Switzerland to the UAE and the German Counsellor for Culture and Press in the UAE at a special read-aloud session for Al Ain schoolchildren at 11am. The Swiss and German Embassies have pledged to continue their support for the Bus in all of its future travels.

His Excellency Jumaa Al Qubaisi, Director of the National Library and the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, said:

"Abu Dhabi's evolution into a world-class society lies in the continual intellectual progress of its citizens. We are grateful for the support of the Zayed Giving Initiative and to all our partners for collaborating with us to bring to fruition new community outreach activities."

Monika Krauss, General Manager of Kitab, said, "Through the launch of the Kitab Bus we are taking another step towards our goal of inspiring a love of books and reading amongst the young and the young-at-heart in the most remote communities."

Over the coming months the Kitab Bus will continue to tour Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and the Western Region, making sure that everyone in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has the opportunity to fall in love with books.

The Al Ain Reads book show will take place at Bawadi Mall, Al Ain from 4 - 10 October. The activities for the children's programme at the show have been made possible through Kitab's partnership with the Sheikh Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan Cultural Centre, House of Arts and the Al Ain Municipality. The Sheikh Mohammed bin Khaled Al Nahyan Cultural Centre is kindly supporting a range of AAR activities for the children.
