Zayed University signs an agreement with HSBC to sponsor 150 students

Zayed University signed an agreement with HSBC Bank Middle East Limited for a student scholarship program, where according to the agreement the HSBC Bank Middle East will sponsor 150 female students from Zayed University's Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses.

HSBC Bank will provide the students with internship and job opportunities, and a salary of Dhs2000.

The agreement was signed yesterday (5th October 2009) by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, President of Zayed University and Abdulfattah Sharaf - Chief Executive Officer, Personal Financial Services MENA, HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, in His Excellency's Abu Dhabi palace, in the presence of Dr.Sulaiman Al Jassim Vice President of Zayed University.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, President of Zayed University stressed the importance of this cooperation between the University and HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, especially because of it's association with providing scholarship, training, summer internships and job opportunities for Zayed University's students on both Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses, creating an academic environment appropriate for them through the provision of financial support from the bank for 150 female students, especially those students enrolled in Zayed University's banking and finance programs.

His Excellency commended this unique initiative by the HSBC Bank Middle East in sponsoring young Nationals and qualifying them to support the economic development of the UAE.

On his part, Abdulfattah Sharaf Chief Executive Officer, Personal Financial Services MENA, HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, said:

Commenting on the agreement Dr.Sulaiman Al Jassim Vice president of Zayed University said: "This agreement is in line with His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan's interest in providing students with opportunities to interact with the banking sector which witnessed great development levels within the past few years, and identify the various skills they need to enter the labor market, in addition to gain practical experience through applying what they learned throughout college during their training or internship or after graduation."
