As the Arabian Gulf's only specialized military and commercial shipbuilder, ADSB has become the region's leading provider of ships and support services to GCC navies and defence forces. It currently has 74 vessels on order from government security forces with enquiries also coming from commercial and non-military organizations.
ADSB offers a range of boats with security applications from small 10m high-speed interceptor style vessels to blue water cruising patrol vessels in excess of 50m in length.
ADSB Vice President Marketing, Mr William Stewart, said:
"With the recent piracy incidents in the Gulf of Aden and neighboring areas there is a growing concern about potential future threats and attacks. Commercial companies are considering investing in security vessels that can assist in protecting their assets and cargo from attempted piracy attacks and threats."
"Multi-national navies will continue to take the lead in combating piracy but recent trends show us that shipping companies and their insurers are looking for additional ways to protect their assets. Through the range of vessels from 10m to 55m, in conjunction with our worldwide strategic partners, ADSB can provide a style of vessel to meet all the requirements of these commercial organizations," said Mr Stewart.
In February this year ADSB signed a Dh460m contract to provide 34 High Speed Interceptor Vessels for the UAE's non-military organization, the Critical National Infrastructure Authority (CNIA). These 16m vessels, capable of travelling at more than 60 knots, are built in conjunction with ADSB'S Turkish strategic partner Yonca-Onuk JV.
The CNIA was set up in May 2007 and is tasked with handling the protection and security of Abu Dhabi's vital assets and infrastructure. Delivery of the first batch of Interceptors is due in the second quarter of 2010.
ADSB will be located at Stand D1 at the Middle East Workboat Exhibition and Conference at ADNEC between 5 and 7 October 2009.
