The donations mean that tens of thousands of families and organisations will benefit from the initiative, in association the UAE Red Crescent Society, who will distribute the collections to the charities in their area.

The 'Make A Difference This Ramadan' campaign, initiated by Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Sharjah City Centre and Ajman City Centre is in its third year. This year, the drive was also introduced to four Majid Al Futtaim Malls in Egypt and Oman.

Fareed Abdelrahman, Vice President, Divisional Asset Manager for Majid Al Futtaim Properties said,

"The generosity of our shoppers and our community never ceases to amaze us. To date, the malls have collectively raised over 147,104 items for charity that have been distributed to needy and underprivileged people across the region. We would like to thank them for making this campaign a success, year after year."

The beneficiaries of the donations in the UAE this year were Juma Al Majid for Culture and Heritage, for all books donated, Al Ihsan Charity Centre for spectacles, and all clothes and mobile phones went to the Red Crescent Society.
