HP will be exhibiting in Hall concourse 2 on Stand CC2-3 showcasing the latest consumer, small and medium businesses' products for the Middle East.

Similar to our participation in the past few years, HP will demonstrate our latest products including PCs, laptops, imaging and printing solutions to consumers at Gitex Shopper and Consumer Electronics Expo 2009.

John Hoonhout, Managing Director, HP Middle East said:

"We are fully committed to the Middle East market and Gitex Technology Week offers us the perfect platform to interact with our customers and partners. In 2009, despite market challenges we were able to invest for the future. Our goal is to drive long-term, profitable business growth for our regional customers and partners. Gitex offers us the opportunity to showcase our product portfolio for the consumers and understand new changes and market trends that impact our business".

HP Imaging and Printing Group (IPG)

Imaging and Printing Group has a number of Laserjet and Inkjet single functional and multifunctional printers designed to increase productivity in SMBs and lower costs and environmental impact, including the launch of HP's Wi-Fi technology in its printers to meet customer demands. Each of these products has been developed with one objective in mind, to serve the needs of an ever broadening user-base.
HP will be working towards a strong participation at Gitex Shopper with the launch of novel product lines vis-à-vis the Laserjets and the Multi-Function Printers (MFP). HP will also be sponsoring the media room at Gitex.

IPG's focus at the IT exhibition will continue to be on tackling the issue of counterfeit merchandise. Many a time, companies tend to buy counterfeit printing products like fake cartridges to save costs. This adds to the $200bn annual global trade of counterfeit products. Further, such cartridges do not work properly, harm the environment due to the wasted inferior quality print-outs and they don't stand to gain from HP's return and recycle programme.

Planet Partners is HP's high-tech environment-friendly return and recycle plan of used original HP cartridges. Its successful expansion in the Middle East region began in July this year with HP's business customers of UAE. Customers can log into www.hp.com/recycle/, select the 'enterprise & public sector' or 'SMB' option as required and specify the correct type of empty cartridges. The customer will receive a collection-box which will be collected once full, the turnaround time for the entire process of collection and delivery is just five working days. In fact, HP has accomplished a milestone in environmental accountability by recycling more than 250m HP print cartridges worldwide since the inception of HP Planet Partners Programme in 1991.

HP Technology Solutions Group (TSG)

HP's Technology Solutions Group will take a lead role at Gitex this year as the strategic technology partner to the region's enterprise sector.

At the show, one of the key objectives for HP TSG will be to highlight its well-architected communications and collaboration infrastructure aimed at IT managers and CIOs who are keen to reduce expense on computing, storage, security and telecom.

HP TSG will focus on educating and building awareness on its energy-efficient solutions and share successful, proven practices wherein CIOs have managed costs and optimized their IT environment to drive growth, productivity and innovation.

TSG is the largest business segment of HP, providing servers, storage, software and information technology services that enable enterprise and midmarket business customers to manage their IT infrastructure and transform them into a business enabler.

TSG includes Enterprise Storage and Servers (ESS), HP Services (HPS) and HP Software & Solutions.

HP Personal Systems Group (PSG)

HP will be launching a number of new PSG products, including HP's new offering in the touchscreen space.

HP TouchSmart series, which will be displayed at the Gitex Shopper this year, is powered by HP-developed software designed specifically for touch. The TouchSmart recognizes the movements of a finger as it sweeps across the super-slim touchscreen, giving users quick access to information, entertainment and social networks. Without a keyboard or mouse, consumers can play their favorite music, easily move songs around to create new playlists, drag corners of a photo to zoom in, and quickly check the weather or watch TV.

This year's Gitex will witness the "Touch the Future Now" campaign which will highlight HP's focus on the touch technology and this will be evident with the Notebook and other Touch products. A highlight of the campaign will be the online finger-dancing competition; aptly in sync with the launch of the Touch products. The competition will commence at the launch of the campaign and will run through the duration of the event.

As a corollary to this campaign, a tour event will be held in UAE, KSA and Egypt. In KSA, Abu Dhabi and Dubai the event will be held from 7th to 18th October 2009. Especially targeted at the youth, the event will showcase a range of entertainment and activities from music to technology. The tour in Dubai will be held on two separate days at the Dubai Festival City and Dubai Marina Mall. Visitors will witness the Touch Orchestra and the Touch Smile print at the event.
