RHAS and Jordan Health Communication Partnership sign MOU

The Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) and Jordan Health Communication Partnership JHCP/ Johns Hopkins University and Funded by USAID sign a MOU which aims at creating a model of a healthy school that constantly strengthens its capacity as a healthy setting for living, learning and working.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Jordan Health Communication Partnership, by its Chief of Party Ms. Cheryl Groff, and on behalf of RHAS by its General Director Mrs. Enaam Al-Barrishi and aims at unifying the JHCP Health Competent School Initiative implemented at 115 schools with collaboration of Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health, and the 20 Madrasati Schools program to create a model healthy school program that can be expanded throughout the Kingdom in future.

The partnership aims to promote healthy lifestyles among the whole school population by developing supportive environments conducive to the promotion of health and will encourage schools to constantly strengthen their capacity to model a healthy setting for living, learning and working.

Ms. Cheryl Groff, Chief of Party of Jordan Health Communication Partnership, said:
" We are proud to be working with the Royal Health Awareness Society which is a strategic partner for us; we hope that this agreement will add a new and successful dimension to the project, and provide healthy and safe environment to our children."


The General Director of the Royal Health Awareness Society Enaam Barrishi expressed:" we always seek to foster strategic partnerships with leading and pioneer organizations, and we are sure at RHAS that Jordan Health Communication Partnership will support our cause in promoting and maintaining a safer environment for our schools and students."

It is worth mentioning that the Royal Health Awareness Society is a Jordanian non-profit Organization established in 2005 under the direction of Her Majesty Queen Rania aiming to enhance the overall wellbeing of the local community, by raising health awareness and empowering Jordanians to embrace healthy lifestyles & behaviors. RHAS initiates & supports community-based health & safety interventions in partnership with public, private and civil society institutions.

The Jordan Health Communication Partnership (JHCP) Program is a national initiative, aimed at achieving a health competent Jordan; meaning being able and having credible resources to respond appropriately to health situations as they arise.

JHCP is implemented by Jordan Health Communication Partnership (JHCP)-Johns Hopkins University/Bloomberg School of Public Health /Center for Communication Programs (CCP), funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Activities of JHCP are implemented through Jordanian partners from the public, private and NGO sectors with coordination from the Ministry of Health.

JHCPs vision is to achieve a health competent Jordan in which communication empowers individuals, families, communities and institutions with the knowledge, skills and resources needed to work together to improve and sustain health.

This is mainly achieved by using state of the art tools and technologies in designing and implementing research based Behavior Change Communication (BCC) national campaigns under a unified national brand "Our Health-Our responsibility"(OHOR)
