  • PRESS RELEASE

Stargate Edutainment Centre, Zabeel Park, Dubai, has announced its very own professional go-karting team, created to compete in FIA/CIK international level and national race events, helping to raise awareness of the Emirate through sport.

Stargate Dubai, a family oriented theme park built in the form of a spaceship with five wings, which provide exhibition and retail spaces on various themes, opened its doors during the Holy Month of Ramadan, where thousands of eager visitors enjoyed the new entertainment facility.

Aimed at families and children, the 250,000 sq foot facility has a newly designed indoor go-karting facility on three floors, with a track for adults, bumper cars, a children's driving school, and coffee shop, all contained within the facility.

The international karting team will travel to Lonato, Italy in a few days time to compete in the ROK World Cup, represented by top international female karting champion Fabienne Lanz, hoping again for a top podium finish.

"I'm so excited about representing Stargate Dubai, it is a fantastic facility for the whole family, children and adults can enjoy learning together," commented Lanz.

Head coach and team manager Peter Lanz, for XSport Motorsport, said:
"This is a step in the right direction for the UAE, we need more facilities like these where children can learn the sport in a safe environment where parents can be close to the children and give them all the support."

"There are a few exciting projects in the pipeline for this facility and who knows we may even uncover a future Formula 1 star here at Stargate," he continued.

Stargate Dubai and XSport Motorsport intends to help build more awareness of go-karting as a sport and will conduct a junior training school for children to learn go-karting, ready to go into many competitions already in the UAE. Sheik Hasher Al Maktoum, double UAE Karting Champion will also be one of the drivers sponsored in future races.

Abdullah Al Enazi, CEO at OSUS Facilities Management, commented, "The facility has been a real boost for Dubai, the facility is one of a kind for the Middle East aimed at families and children, they come here to play and to learn in a safe environment and that is our main aim."

About Stargate Dubai:

Developed over a total area of 250,000 square feet in Dubai's Zabeel Park, Stargate is a family oriented theme park built in the form of a spaceship with five wings, which provide exhibition and retail spaces on various captivating themes. Stargate also includes five domes, known as 'domes of fun,' connecting the wings and acting as the main activity areas. Each dome includes educational and entertaining games and attractions centered on a high-tech, outer space theme heralding a new era of family 'edutainment.'

Dubbed as "futuristic edutainment centre," the Dhs450m project is undertaken by property developer Osus Facilities Management on a BOT (build-operate-transfer) contract with Dubai Municipality that manages the emirate's parks and beaches.

At a glance:

• The entry to Stargate is free of charge, except for the entry fee of Dhs5 to Zabeel Park which can be redeemed against any rides.
• Visitors can purchase a swiping card for Dhs2 at Stargate and can top up the credit according to the fee of riders or facilities they are going to use.
• Individuals need not have separate swiping cards.
• One family can just have a card and recharge it with the amount to be swiped for individual users of the facility.
