TransOman Expo opens today

H.E Lieutenant - General Malik bin Sulaiman Al Ma'amari will inaugurate the event tomorrow at 5 p.m.

Organised by Oman International Trade and Exhibitions (OITE) under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the TransOman Expo is open until Thursday. The timings are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

TransOman is supported by Oman Air Cargo (Official Airlines), Port of Sohar, Port Services Corporation - Sultan Qaboos Corporation (S.A.O.C), Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C, National Ferries Corporation, Oman National Transport Co. S.A.O.C, and the Salalah Free Zone.

The TransOman exhibition occupies 1000 square meter space featuring fourty seven companies, representing all spheres of transport and logistics including ports, airports, rail and land transportation. The exhibition has attracted international interest from key logistics and transport hubs such as the USA, UAE, Netherlands, Jordan, Germany, Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom and Oman.

TransOman Conference

A highlight of TransOman is the inaugural TransOman Conference titled, "Transportation Innovation and Challenges'. The conference will open on Wednesday 14 October and will run until Thursday, 15 October. It will be held at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Seeb. Conference Day One will start from nine o'clock in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon. Day two of the conference will be from nine in the morning until one thirty in the afternoon.

According to OITE, over 130 participants will join the conference. The attendees comprise CEO's, ambassadors, company presidents, managing directors, general managers, advisors, divisional managers, logistics managers, project heads, country managers, sales and marketing managers, consultants and others from the UK, USA, Turkey, the GCC countries and Oman.

The Conference will highlight some of the infrastructure projects such as airport development projects for Muscat, Salalah, Ad Duqm, Ras Al Hadd, Sohar and Adam and the various available opportunities within the ports and free zones development projects; land transport opportunities, challenges and strategies to improve road safety; latest trends and best practices in logistics, human resources, training and skill development, innovative technologies and solutions for transport and logistics.

TransOman is the first of its kind event catering to the Transport and Logistics industry in the Sultanate. OITE and the TransOman Advisory Committee are optimistic that the inaugural TransOman Expo and Conference is a concrete step towards developing the logistics industry in the country, thus building Oman as an integral logistics hub within the region.
