The presentation at the workshop included a general framework and priorities related to the next phase, aimed at making MOF one of the leading global players in the field of sustainable development.
Commenting on the strategic plans of MOF, HE Younis Haji Al Khouri said:
"The methodology adopted for the formulation of the strategic plan took into account the strategic direction and priorities of the UAE government to promote the state's position on the regional and international map. He also stressed the importance of the contribution by the ministry's staff, from various levels and specialties, to the success of the task entrusted to the Ministry in the framework of the federal strategy."
HE Younis Al Khouri expressed his appreciation for the various sectors and MOF departments. He also noted the number of achievements witnessed last year that significantly contributed to improving the financial management in UAE. HE hopes last year's achievements will serve as an incentive for more efforts and effective participation from all employees working for various departments in MOF in a way that assures the adoption of new initiatives to bring the ministry's rank to the level of global governmental institutions.
HE Abdul Rahim Al Zarooni, the Executive Director of Strategic Planning Performance Department in MOF, presented the dimensions and mechanisms for preparing the strategic plan with emphasis on the ministry's mission of ensuring the best use of the federal government resources through effective financial management and implementation of sound financial policies.
He also stressed that the ministry is launching new initiatives for 2010 and completing the initiatives that were launched last year, to achieve MOF's strategic vision.
He mentioned that the ministry adopted a large number of values such as promoting team spirit, supporting creativity and innovation, applying the principles of transparency and the ensuring professionalism in all dealings.
The presentation included the processes and steps used in preparing and updating the operational plan, where the strategic planning team explained how to evaluate, follow-up and develop the initiatives to achieve success and the desired result on time.
The participants were involved in developing an operational plan for 2010 after a brain storming session, where each department submitted their suggestions reflecting the Ministry's strategic goals. The strategic planning team presented the MoF's achievements in 2008 which included the establishment of internal Audit offices, in addition to the commencement of medium-term draft budget plan for 2011 to 2013 and other pilot projects.
