Sony Ericsson to be part of Dubai Internet City pavilion at Gitex Technology Week 2009

Dubai Internet City, the region's largest managed Information and Communications Technology cluster (ICT) and a member of TECOM Investments, today announced that Sony Ericsson, a leading mobile phone manufacturer, will be part of its pavilion at Gitex Technology Week 2009, the principal industry event in the Middle East to be held from 18-22 October.

A strategic sponsor of the Gitex Technology Week for the ninth consecutive year, Dubai Internet City will host a total of 5 IT majors and companies from related sectors at its pavilion located on Concourse 2, between Exhibition Hall 8 and the Sheikh Maktoum Hall in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

This event represents one of the most important industry platforms for the region, and our association with it for the ninth consecutive year underlines our commitment to remain the region's premier destination for ICT companies."


During its participation at the event, Sony Ericsson will announce the region-wide imminent arrival of its latest smart mobile phone XPERIA X2. The stand will additionally showcase the SATIO, YARI and AINO mobile phones. The functionality of the products and compatibility with other technology platforms such as the Sony PlayStation 3 will also be demonstrated at the stand.

Mr. Husni El Assi, General Manager, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Middle East, commented on the participation at Gitex 2009: "We are pleased to be participating again this year in the largest international telecommunications exhibition in the region. We will be revealing our latest smart phone the Xperia 2 as well as the new Sony Ericsson's new Communication Entertainment consumer proposition. We are pleased to be part of the DIC (or TECOM) family and part of their pavilion at Gitex."

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 is a new Windows 6.5-based phone that offers the best-in-class email and multimedia experience, and allows users to instantly synchronise their mail and calendar or open and edit Microsoft Office Mobile documents while staying connected at all times.

Sony Ericsson's Yari is the ultimate gaming phone based on state-of-the-art gesture gaming technology, while Satio is a multimedia phone that includes a 3.5 inch screen and a 16:9 widescreen format. Aino, which will also be showcased at the Gitex Technology Week 2009, is a mobile phone specially designed to allow the seamless transfer of music, photos, videos and podcasts from a computer.

Staying in the forefront as a pioneering destination for technology leaders, Dubai Internet City continues to support leading international ICT brands that have set up base within its premises. The cluster has to date welcomed XX business partners this year, continuing to propel the region's sustained growth in the sector.
