The breakfast session will be an opportunity to share best practice examples from around the world and focus on the action being taken against digital and print copyright infringement.
Registration has been overwhelming for the session and Kitab has already registered 120 participants so far. There has been interest from the UK's Channel 4 News who will be attending the event and talking to attendees after the session.
The second session builds on the momentum Kitab has established in enabling and facilitating dialogue between the region's local publishers and the wider international publishing industry. 'Business Opportunities for English Language Publishers in Mena/Gulf Region' will provide fair delegates with news on the latest developments in the region's publishing industry, answer questions and share knowledge of regional opportunities and practice.
His Excellency Jumaa Al Qubaisi, Director of the National Library and the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, said:
"Building a knowledge-based economy relies on enabling people to access books and reading which in turn must be supported by a confident regional publishing industry. Abu Dhabi and Kitab are proud to be leading the way in promoting the region's publishing industry at such an important international book fair."
Monika Krauss, General Manager of Kitab, said:
"It is exciting to come to the Frankfurt Book Fair - the home of Kitab's second parent - to give a voice to the Arab World's publishing industry. Kitab is committed to making sure that the Arab publishing industry is heard at the international level. Our presence and activities here this week will build lines of communication and share regional knowledge with the international industry."
The 'Anti-Piracy Breakfast' will be held on Friday, 16 October, from 8:15am and will be followed at 2pm by the 'Business Opportunities for English Language Publishers in MENA/Gulf Region' session. The Frankfurt Book Fair, the world's largest trade fair, runs from 14 - 18 October.
ADACH and Kitab are also hosting a reception on 15 October at 5pm at their stand.
The 20th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will be held from 2 - 7 March 2010, bringing together local, regional and international publishers. The focus will be 'trading rights'.
