Commenting on this participation, Ray Milhem - Chief Technology Officer at Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), said: "Being an Integrated Technology Park, we are committed to facilitating and promoting technology-based industries, research and development within a fully integrated community. Gitex Technology Week is the right platform for us to promote our value proposition and what we can offer companies in terms of resource, expertise, and infrastructure".

The Gitex Technology Week gains additional significance this year following industry estimates that despite the current economic challenges, the IT market in the Middle East has registered a higher growth rate than other major markets such as the US, Western Europe and Japan. ICT spending in GCC states is projected to exceed $10.10bn by 2010, according to these reports.

"We believe the market offers reasonable opportunities that need to be tapped for sustained growth. Our participation in Gitex Technology Week will enable us to take effective measures to explore these growth options and expand our network through meeting with potential business partners and industry professionals,"

Ray added.

During the five-day event, exhibitors will have the chance to explore more about DSO, and its solid value proposition and Free-zone benefits including competitive cost of operations, state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced IT network, 100% ownership, and above all an environment that is specifically designed for the technology industry, which will be unveiled at the stand located at Z-C 10 Zabeel Hall.

Dubai Silicon Oasis is a wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai and operates as a free zone for semiconductor, microelectronic and other high technology-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and R&D facilities in the Middle East and Africa region.
