The event is being organized by the Formula World Sports and the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), who support the largest Powerboat races in the world and are the international governing body of power boating.

It is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and is also a member of the General Association of International Sports Federations and the Association of the IOC-Recognized International Sports Federations.

Bahrain's event follows other successful shows in Malaysia, Oman and Fujairah; Egypt will have its turn after Bahrain.

Speaking on behalf of Amwaj Islands, Mr. Martin Kay, Chief Executive Officer at Ossis B.S.C (C), said:
"We are delighted that Formula World Sports has selected Amwaj Islands as the location of choice for the UIM F2 World Championship."

"The event will be based at the Amwaj Marina, where we held the first Bahrain Boat Show International in April this year. That show was a tremendous success and we are positive that with the experience and expertise that Formula World Sports brings this will be yet another very successful event in Amwaj Islands," commented Mr. Kay.

Amwaj Islands comprise residential developments including homes, studios, apartments, town houses and villas together with a school that is already fully functional, a polyclinic, leading hotels, resort hotels, chalets, a shopping centre, a lagoon surrounded by promenades with al fresco dining and boutiques, entertainment and theme projects, botanical gardens, bird sanctuary and aviary, theme park, water park, a beach club and a family resort, and of course, a 60,000sqm circular marina.

"With all that Amwaj Islands has to offer, you have some of the finest recreation facilities in Bahrain! It is difficult to think of a better venue for the UIM F2 World Championship!" added Mr. Kay.

The UIM F2 World Championship, Bahrain GP will be open to the public free of charge, and will run from 9:30am - 5:00pm on Thursday and Friday. During both days, visitors can expect to see exhibitors including Kooheji Marine, SeaWorld, Vespas, Segways and The Lost Paradise of Dilmun, alongside numerous food outlets and games with music provided by K-OT-IK running throughout the event.
