Dubai World Game Summit to be presented by Twofour54

The Arabic digital game industry has received a welcome boost with the news that this year's Dubai World Game Summit (DWGS) will be sponsored by Twofour54, the regional centre of excellence for Arabic content creation in the media and entertainment industry.

Taking place at the Dubai International and Convention Centre on the 27th and 29th October the Dubai World Game Summit is being held in conjunction with the Dubai World Game Expo organized by Index Conferences and Exhibitions (a member of Index Holding). The summit will be the largest annual gathering of professional game developers, publishers and media, focusing on learning, inspiration, and networking in the MENA region.

The DWGS will address the local game developments and business opportunities in emerging markets across the Middle East, covering online games, mobile games and console games, design, audio, visual arts, animation and education.

The summit will bring together the digital game industry opinion leaders such as Anvi Yerli and Sean Tracy of Crytek Gmbh, John Cash of Blizzard Entertainment, Grayson Edge of Epic Games, Sten Selander of Nordic Games and Paul Holman of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

Ahmed Metwally of Timeline Interactive, Ahmed Jadallah of Vertex Studio, Nour Khrais of Maysalward, Yasir Agha of Joybox, Steve Tsao of Tahadi Games, Nick Bryant of MBC Group, Behrouz Minaei from the Computer Game National Institute of Tehran and Behrouz Minaei of Fanafzar will also speak at the summit.

The name Twofour54 is taken from Abu Dhabi's geographical coordinates, which are latitude 24 north, longitude 54 east. This name was chosen to symbolise Abu Dhabi's strategic position within the Middle East, which makes it the ideal location for the centre of excellence for content creation in the Arab region.

By the end of2009 Twofour54 will have 60 international and regional partners developing quality media content from its Khalifa Park campus - this number will continue to grow significantly throughout 2010.

Twofour54 tawasol, Twofour54's unique business enabler, has processed over 600 work visas for staff from these organisations, which enables them to live and work in Abu Dhabi. In the first 12 months of operation, Twofour54 tadreeb will have put over 800 media professionals, from 27 companies, through more than 1.4 million man hours of training, spanning 55 courses; around 30% of these students will have come from outside the UAE.

Launched at the end of September 2009, Twofour54 intaj has already recruited 70 specialist staff and from its five state-of the-art HD studios and 22 post production suites it has booking for more than 200 production days, which will result in more than 400 hours of TV programming being produced and more than 100 hours of live feed booked through its satellite teleport system.
