Malaysian delegation's visit to the Central Bank of Bahrain

Mr. Khalid Hamad, Executive Director, Banking Supervision and Sheikh Salman Al Khalifa, Executive Director, Banking Operations of the Central Bank of Bahrain met today with Mr. Dato 'Mohd Razif Abd Kadir, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Malaysia and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed several topics dealing with aspects of joint cooperation between the two countries with regards to the Islamic finance sector in terms of the exchange of expertise, and the latest developments both regionally and globally.

This visit comes during the Malaysian delegation's tour to the Kingdom of Bahrain from the 14th to the 15th of October 2009. The aim of this visit is to strengthen cooperation in the field of Islamic Finance between the two countries.

There will also be a Malaysia/ Bahrain Business forum which will be held on October 15, 2009 at the Ritz-Carlton, and will be attended by a number of experts in Islamic finance from both countries to discuss and exchange thoughts on current developments in Islamic finance.

On this occasion, Mr. Khalid Hamad commented,

"We have always enjoyed a good relationship with our Malaysian counterparts and this visit will further enhance the exchange of experience and knowledge with the objective of further developing Islamic finance infrastructure."


The meeting was also attended by Mr. Fouad Rashid, Director of the Bahrain Stock Exchange and Mr. Garry Muriwai, Director of BIBF as well as other CBB officials.
