DED has developed a range of online services for investors, company owners and PROS in co-operation with a variety of other government departments to strengthen the quality of services offered to customers.

The DED's IT Executive Director, Abdulla Hassan, said:

"The launch of the eServices comes in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to position Dubai as an e-driven economy. It also highlights the success of DED's strategy to provide value-added services to its customers in compliance with the eGovernance policies to boost productivity and enhance the quality of customer service."

At Gitex 2009, DED will distribute laptops to winning customers, who had used DED's eServices to reserve, renew trade names and renew trade licences from October 4 to 15.

The eServices offered by DED include the Transaction Status whereby customers can check the status by using a transaction number, licence number or initial approval number. Search Trade Names enables users to reserve trade names or find out if the desired name is already taken. Company Lookup helps to search for existing companies operating in Dubai and gain information on their contact details and business activities. The Number of Licences per Person Report is also available.

Through the Business Set up Simulator, potential investors can obtain an overview about setting up a new business in Dubai. Licence Renewal Cost Estimator allows existing companies to find out the cost of renewing their licences and Activity Search procedure helps users to understand more about the activities that are classified by DED.

DED recently unveiled the new website to improve public access to business-related information and procedures. The DED website has a clearer look, intuitive navigation and starting points featuring focused content for specialized users. The site is based on a new content management system, built to allow DED divisions to publish up-to-date information faster and more efficiently.

The new website also offers concise information about DED services, links to its core agencies - the Dubai Shopping Festival Office, the Export Development Corporation, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders, and Foreign Investment Office. Feedback forms on the site also encourage visitors to express their views and share suggestions with DED officials.
