RTA registers 85k new vehicles in the 1st half of '09

Licensing Agency at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has registered 85,066 new vehicles in Dubai during the period from Jan 1st to June 30th, 2009; pushing the total number of registered vehicles in the emirate of Dubai to 1,005,877 vehicles.
"Statistics of registered vehicles during the same period in 2008 show that the total number of vehicles registered was 147,033 vehicles, and the busiest month was March in which 26,449 vehicles were registered, followed by April (26,180 vehicles), May (25,366 vehicles), June (25,344), February (23,634 vehicles), and January was the trailer as vehicle registration was 20,060 vehicles.
"Dubai registered vehicles are listed under seven main categories; motor cycle, light vehicle, heavy vehicle, light bus, heavy bus, light mechanical equipment and heavy mechanical equipment.
"Licensing Agency is making every effort to ensure the deployment of safe vehicles that meet the requirements of safety & environment at the highest international standards applicable in this regard, which comes in the context of the drive to fulfill the vision of the RTA of providing Safe & Smooth Transport for All".
