Aseza upgrades 500 PCs to Microsoft Windows 7

The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (Aseza) has become another early adopter of Windows 7, deploying the software on 500 of its machines across all departments and offices in Aqaba, providing its 800 employees with the opportunity to be some of the Kingdom's first users of the latest operating system developed by Microsoft.

In order to facilitate an easy migration to Windows 7 and minimize upgrade costs, Microsoft devoted a considerable amount of time in the development stage to ensure that minimal changes were made to the way the most popular applications and devices interact with Windows.

A comprehensive list of the most widely used consumer and business applications and devices were tested throughout the development cycle, which has resulted in companies being able to extend the life of the investments they have already made in existing software and hardware.

Omar Oduibat, Information Systems Director at Aseza, said:
"What I like most about Windows 7 is the compatibility with existing devices and software applications, making the migration from a previous version of Windows quick, easy and cost effective. I've also been enjoying some of Windows 7's outstanding new features, such as the user interface, the security enhancements and faster performance. I would definitely recommend Windows 7."

Zeid Shubailat, Country Manager of Microsoft Jordan, stated, "Windows 7 was designed to make things easier for users, with application compatibility being one of our main concerns, which allows for faster deployment as was demonstrated in the case of Aseza. Application compatibility should not be a concern for users thinking of making the upgrade to Windows 7. However, this is just one of many features that will provide consumers and businesses with a far more reliable, secure, faster, and simpler operating system that will empower users to do so much more."

Microsoft recently announced the release to manufacturing (RTM) of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the latest versions of its flagship desktop and server operating systems, with the official global launch taking place on October 22nd.

Microsoft Jordan will also be holding a special launch event in the Kingdom on November 4th, where Microsoft's Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Turner, will be delivering the Key Note Speech to IT and business decision makers from the largest enterprise companies in Jordan. Kevin Turner is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Microsoft's worldwide sales, marketing and services organization, leading a global organization of over 46,000 employees, who delivered over $53bn in revenue during fiscal 2008.
