In a bid to strengthen the quality of project management and open up new career opportunities for Bahrainis, Tamkeen has held extensive talks with the Bahrain Board of the Project Management Institute - Arabian Gulf Chapter (PMI-AGC) headed by its Bahrain Branch President, Mr. Abdul Majeed Al-Gassab on training initiatives to qualify Bahraini University graduates to take up project management jobs and to enhance the prospects for those already employed in this sector.

Tamkeen's Chief Executive Mr. Abdulelah Al Qassimi, said:

"Project management companies would be able to upgrade employee skills and company effectiveness by utilizing Tamkeen's 'Career Progression scheme' where Tamkeen covers the costs for additional training and skill-building programs benefiting employees in order to qualify them for better job positions within their current organizations and improve their income."

He has also advised that such a scheme could be utilized to support CAPM & PMP certification training.

The two bodies also agreed to exchange research findings - on Tamkeen's side, Mr. Al Qassimi said that Tamkeen would share the final findings of the extensive nationwide Skills Gap survey with PMI-AGC Bahrain, especially findings on the project management sector.

This will help to steer the PMI-AGC's own survey of the sector and help the organisation to set the framework for the survey.

Both organizations also agreed to explore the possibility of Tamkeen's support for PMI-AGC's efforts to bring a programme of seminars and workshops featuring international experts to Bahrain as part of a continuous certification programme.
