Prime Minister Nader Dahabi visits the Abdali new downtown

Prime Minister Nader Dahabi was briefed on Thursday by Chairman of the Abdali Investment and Development Psc's board of directors Sheikh Bahaa R. Hariri on the progress of The Abdali Project, one of the largest real estate projects in the Kingdom, which will characterize the new downtown of Amman after its completion.

The Prime Minister, Nader Dahabi was also updated on the latest construction developments of the project that has a value exceeding $5bn.

During a visit to the site, the premier stressed the government's commitment to provide all means of support to facilitate the implementation of the project and expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all the concerned parties working on this vital project.

Sheikh Bahaa R. Hariri expressed his gratitude for the government's interest in this project, and stressed that the Abdali project crowns the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his efforts to ensure Amman and Jordan as a whole holds a promising future.

Sheikh Bahaa R. Hariri said:
"The Abdali Project is a modern smart urban landmark that will contribute in positioning the city of Amman as a major business and touristic destination on both the regional and international levels. It is also an integral part of the city's vibrant present and promising future."


According to official statistics, the number of construction licenses and building permits in the Kingdom rose in the first eight months of this year by 23%, compared to the same period last year. Similarly, the areas licensed for construction also rose in the same period by 15% compared with last year.

The Abdali New Downtown project is the largest mixed-use development project in Amman, the capital of Jordan, in terms of its magnitude and impact on the various sectors and activities. Through its collaboration with renowned multinational developers, it has created a hub and city centre which offers the highest level of technology and a foundation for future business and investment opportunities.

On the other hand Mr. Mouhib Itani, CEO of Abdali Psc., emphasized that the project originated with a generous gesture by His Majesty King Abdullah II to persist with the requirements of the age. Mr. Mouhib also indicated that the project has reached an advanced stage for completion, with the core of Phase 1 to be operational by 4th quarter of 2010.

Hence, Phase 1 consists of the Commercial Buildings and The Abdali Boulevard. The high rise towers, however, are set to be completed in 2011 and 2012. After which, Phase II of the project to be operational by 2014.

Commending the Jordanian government's support, Mr. Mouhib expressed gratitude for the services and facilities offered by Jordan to the project and affirmed that Abdali will be a unique point of conversion for Jordan and the entire Arab region alike.

Abdali Psc. was formed out of a successful partnership between the government-owned real estate developer National Resources and Development Corporation (Mawared) and Horizon owned Sheikh Bahaa R. Hariri.
