HSBC Middle East hires Head of Equities

Kaveh Samie has joined HSBC as Managing Director, Head of Equities for the Middle East, a new position. This important appointment underscores HSBC's commitment to its Equities and Investment Banking business in the region.

HSBC is a major player in Middle East Equities:


• It is the only international bank with a licence to trade on the two UAE markets, the DFM and ADX.
• It is the only international bank with a licence for online trading on ADX and DFM.
• It is the only bank in the region offering custody and clearing services in 11 regional markets.
• It is a leading trader on behalf of international institutional investors.
• It has an award-winning comprehensive equity research function in the Middle East.

Mr Samie joins HSBC from Citigroup where he was most recently Regional Co-Head of Equities, Middle East and North Africa. He joined Citigroup in 1993 from Oppenheimer & Co, having previously worked for Bank Julius Baer and Prudential Securities. He brings a wealth of experience to HSBC having developed, over the last 20 years, long-standing relationships with the leading investors and market participants.
