IDM in a Box is ideal for companies that consider IT security to be mission critical to their business, and wish to deploy an effective yet easy to manage Identity Management solution. It allows organisations to get working account management systems up and running in record time for rapid ROI, while still providing the capability to grow and expand as needs change. However, it is not a stripped down version, but in fact a full featured installation with all the capabilities of Identity Manager.

"Identity Management is important for organizational efficiency and security, especially in larger organizations. The 'IDM in a Box' simplifies Identity Management for organizations that have many user accounts and find it challenging to manage them,"

said Gerard McDonnell, Software Line of Business Manager - MENA, Sun Microsystems.

"The Middle East has a completely different set of business drivers when it comes to the need for Identity Management. Instead of the stringent compliance related pressure elsewhere in the world, there is an urgency to reduce operational costs and tighten security. This solution addresses those business needs perfectly. We also have a completely different set of obstacles to the adoption of IDM. Here, basic high level skills to deploy and operate the solution are more scarce. IDM in a Box eliminates the need for such high level skills as it comes effectively pre-configured with minimal on-site installation requirements," Gerard added.

IDM in a Box solves user access management issues and is specifically aimed at organizations which have between 1,000 and 10,000 users. Managing hundreds or thousands of identities from different locations not only makes the process costly and erroneous, but also slower and prone to security flaws. Simple routine business growth can easily render user ID management out of control which increases the fundamental security risk to the company.

IDM in a Box addresses these challenges cost effectively and efficiently. With Sun's IDM in a Box solution, the organization will only need to manage one user ID per employee, partner, or customer, irrespective of the number of systems in use. This enables them to grow and change without increasing their security risks.

"Businesses in the region are getting to a level of scale and complexity where this solution is now urgently needed but, they fear that choosing and implementing something is still too complicated and brings more risk that it is worth. IDM in a Box takes away that complexity which means the risks are lower and the rewards are higher with quicker returns. The solution scales as the organization grows; it's not a static application that will someday be replaced. With IDM in a Box organisations can easily audit and simply manage one identity per user from a single installed package," adds McDonnell.

By simplifying the initial installation to common applications, 'IDM in a Box' enables user management services within days, rather than weeks or months. Its capabilities include Identity and Password Synchronization that allows users to match identities on separate systems by a common key, as well as keep user password changes synchronized.

The solution is available immediately through Sun's entire channel across the Middle East.
