Jacky's Electronics attracts huge interest at Gitex Shopper 2009

The dedicated Windows 7 stand which features products only operating on the new Windows 7 operating system has created huge excitement, not least because its world wide launch date is on the 22nd October and Jacky's has been selling this from October 17th from the Airport Expo venue.

Besides being able to purchase laptops pre-installed with Windows 7, visitors are also being tempted by other exclusive Gitex Shopper offers which are not available at Jacky's normal retail outlets.

Visitors to the Jacky's stands are also being given the chance to take home five LG X120 Mini netbooks and five LG GB110 mobile phones every hour for the duration of the show, which lasts until the 24th of this month.

In addition, a 42" LG Scarlet Full HD LCD TV is being given away every day throughout the show to lucky customers across all of Jacky's normal retail outlets.

Jimmy Patel, General Manager of Jacky's Electronics, explained sales in key categories made during the opening days of the event are definitely higher than last year.

"Once again we have managed to exceed even our own sales forecasts when we look at unit sales in segments such as netbooks, Smartphones and LCD & Plasma TVs, which shows the high levels of consumer interest in the electronics sector,"

he said.

"This Gitex Shopper, Jacky's sales have been boosted by the fact that all laptops being sold are with a two-year warranty. In cases where the normal manufacturer warranty is for one year, Jacky's has been giving another year for free by using its Jacky's Extended Warranty programme. The advantage is that the consumers don't need to worry for repair costs and if the product is beyond repair during the Jacky's Extended Warranty period, it's replaced free of charge," he added.

Jacky's has seen segments such as LCD and Plasma TVs registering double-digit growth in unit terms, but at the same time, average selling prices are approximately 30% lower than they would have been a year ago. Smartphones have also remained extremely popular, with devices such as BlackBerry leading the way with the current offer of a free BlackBerry Storm for every purchase of BlackBerry Bold or Curve 8900 with a subscription.

"Apart from targeting core business users, smart phone manufacturers have been quick to target social networking users who want to use tools such as Facebook, Twitter, MSN Messenger and Blackberry Messenger on their mobile devices. While there are some reasonably priced entry level smart phones available on the market, many consumers still don't mind spending more for a good smart phone, just as long as it will help them make their status updates on Twitter and Facebook," Patel continued.
