SKMC officially re-opens Al Rowda Family Medicine Clinic

Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, managed by Cleveland Clinic, is pleased to officially inaugurate the renovated "Al Rowda Family Medicine Clinic" today, 21 October 2009.

Al Rowda Family Medicine Clinic was temporarily closed for the past year for renovation works as part of the overall strategy to improve the Primary Health Care System in Abu Dhabi. SKMC is owned and operated by SEHA, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The renovated clinic was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Health Authority of Abu Dhabi and H.E. Mr. Saif Bader Al Qubaisi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Health Services Company in the presence of Dr. Scott Strong, CEO of SKMC, Dr. Ali Khalili, Chairman of Family Medicine at SKMC and members of the management teams at SKMC and SEHA.

Following the opening of the Clinic, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei said "The government is setting world class standards for the providers to meet. This updated clinic is an example of how those standards have been translated into reality by SEHA and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City." Dr. Al Mazrouei extended his thanks to SEHA and SKMC - Cleveland Clinic for their invaluable contributions to the redevelopment of the Abu Dhabi Health System.

H.E. Al Qubaisi said, "Today SEHA and SKMC have achieved yet another milestone in its efforts towards providing state-of-the-art healthcare to the community. The opening of this revonated clinic and converting all SKMC's Primary Healthcare Centers to Family Medicine Clinic signals our continued commitment in developing the infrastructure required to achieve world class standards for healthcare delivery and building patients trust in the SEHA healthcare system."

Dr. Scott Strong, CEO of SKMC said, "The renovation of Al Rowda Clinic was executed to upgrade the facility and improve the delivery of health services. It is part of our overall strategy to improve SKMC's entire healthcare system, meet SEHA's objective of developing an integrated healthcare system and support the conversion of our Primary Healthcare Centers into Family Medicine Clinics".

"SKMC and SEHA are committed to raising the standards of healthcare services provided at its clinics to levels practiced at Advanced Primary Health Clinics around the world", Dr. Atul Mehta, Chief Medical Officer at SKMC said.

Dr. Ali Khalili, Chairman of Family Medicine at SKMC stated, "Al Rowda clinic has been expanded. We now have 24 examination rooms, larger registration and patient waiting areas and a new electronic medical records system that will improve the flow and handling of prescriptions and registration."

"For the patient ease of access, we encourage families to visit the clinic closest to their area of residence. This new system has helped the Abu Dhabi population to (add a doctor to their family)"

The renovated Al Rowda Family Medicine Clinic, located on Al Karamah Street and includes an X-ray room and laboratory services. It will be staffed by 10 physicians, 3 of whom are consultants.

SKMC Family Medicine Clinics provide a wide array of healthcare services for the entire family including screening programs, immunization programs, prenatal and neonatal care, child care, teen's health, range of acute to chronic care, geriatric care, mental health care, women's health program, community outreach and education, minor procedures and surgeries, family counseling and home care program.
