The tournament offers the local community as well as ADAC employees a chance to watch last year's winners defend their titles in what promises to be one of the most exciting tournaments to date.

The challenging two-day Airport Cup, one of the most popular annual events in the Al Ghazal Golf Club's calendar, is a Stableford points competition played off full handicap. The event, which is sanctioned by the Emirates Golf Federation, is the longest running event in the golf club's history, and is sponsored by ADAC for the 2nd year running.

The winners of the Airport Cup in 2008, Nathan Brown and Anina Bester, don't intend to let go of their titles without a fight, and spectators are in for a treat as many strong contenders, including last year's runner ups Stan Nikau and Anette Rego, put their skills to the test.

In this regard, John Stent, Chief Executive Officer at ADAC, stated:

"We are delighted to be back as headline sponsors of this fantastic annual event. Golf is growing in popularity across all nationalities in the Emirate, and ADAC is proud to support the event and thus help making the sport accessible to our local community in Abu Dhabi. The tournament offers an exciting challenge to keen golf club members participating in the competition and a fantastic day out for the golf enthusiasts that come to watch."

"The tournament sees the entire community come together and enjoy a challenging 18 hole course, and includes Emirati as well as expat challengers. It promises to be an exciting tournament, and everybody is welcome to come watch," Stent concluded.

The first round of the tournament starts Friday 23rd October at 1.30pm and continues into the early evening, concluding with an evening barbeque open to competitors and guests at the clubhouse. The second day of the tournament starts with registration and breakfast in the clubhouse at 7:30am, with the second round beginning at 8:30am.

John Stent, ADAC's Acting CEO will present the cup winners with the prestigious trophies at 1:30pm at a ceremony in the clubhouse which concludes the 2009 ADAC Airport Cup Golf Tournament.

About Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC):
Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) is a public joint-stock company wholly owned by the Abu Dhabi Government. It was incorporated by Amiri Decree number 5, issued on 4 March 2006, to spearhead the development of the Emirate's aviation infrastructure.

In September 2006, ADAC took over responsibility for the operation and management of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain international Airports. In 2008, ADAC added Al Bateen private jet airport, formerly Al Bateen military airbase, and Sir Bani Yas and Delma Island Airports to its portfolio. These airports all serve different segments of the marketplace and help contribute to Abu Dhabi's development as a destination for both business and leisure tourism.

Currently under way is the large scale Dhs25($6.8)bn re-development and expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport designed to increase the overall capacity of the airport to more than 20 million passengers per year. As part of this redevelopment, a second runway and a third terminal have been completed. A new ATC tower and Midfield Terminal Complex will complete the redevelopment within the next few years.
