The poll of IT professionals also revealed that, when faced with budgetary pressures, 47% take a long-term view in seeking infrastructure efficiency gains and more than half (51%) are continuing to invest in enterprise agility. This is prioritized over the shorter term cost cutting alternative (40%).
The announcement follows Citrix's recent introduction to the market of XenDesktop 4, a desktop virtualization solution, as well as its engagement about the solution with customers and the channel during Gitex 2009.
In line with the launch of the on-demand service, which offers a premium user experience, almost 60% of Gitex attendees interviewed expect that enterprise mobility will continue to grow and as such, departments will need to support a growing mobile working population in the future.
"Two key areas will drive large-scale adoption of desktop virtualization: the ability to deliver a rich, high-definition experience to any user, anywhere, and the ability to deliver the right type of virtual desktop to the right user,"
said Antoine Aguado, Regional Director of Citrix, Middle East.
"Citrix has had a successful Gitex this year especially with the excitement around XenDesktop 4. As our Gitex survey shows, people today need to work in new and more flexible ways, powered by the connectivity of the internet, an explosion of new devices and the limitless promise of the web. And they need to do it without being confined to ordinary desktops that are locked to an office, a device or a network. Desktop virtualization has the power to make all this possible. That revolution begins here, with the new XenDesktop," he said.
