It aims to highlight the importance of screening and early detection of the illness that is the second leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55. The center, set to be officially inaugurated in November 2009, opened its doors early in order to support the national breast cancer campaign by promoting health awareness and education and offering women complimentary clinical breast exams throughout the month.

"It is estimated that one in eight women either has or will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, which is a hugely significant number. Early detection of breast cancer is vital to avoid potentially fatal prognoses. Our purpose is to educate women about breast cancer and encourage them to perform regular screening. Throughout our network of centers, HealthPlus will continue to work in parallel with the Health Authority-Abu Dhabi to promote health awareness and education and improve long-term health,"

said Mr. Majd Abu Zant, Chief Executive Officer of HealthPlus.

As well as offering complimentary breast exams, the HealthPlus Women's Health Center is running a series of interactive workshops. Visitors will be educated on how to perform self breast exams, which is a highly important process since around 70% of Breast Cancers are detected in this manner. The center will be offering various other workshops over the coming months, which will address different health issues related to women.

The HealthPlus Women's Health Center, located in Al Rowdah, is the first center to open in the HealthPlus network of 20 premium out-patient facilities in Abu Dhabi. Each center within the HealthPlus network will support the multiple missions of UEMedical, Abu Dhabi's leading healthcare investment and development company, including outstanding patient care and extensive community outreach.

The HealthPlus brand is being developed by UEMedical and will form part of an integrated healthcare delivery system set to include UEMedical's flagship project, Danat Al Emarat Women and Children's Hospital. HealthPlus will fill the apparent gaps in the healthcare sector, and focus will be placed on medical excellence, patient-centredness and unparalleled levels of customer service.
