"KFU is proud to be partnering with Honeywell on this prestigious initiative that will not only allow our students to learn from an industry leader, but will also offer them the opportunity to gain vital industry experience as part of their curriculum. On the academic front, this partnership will also allow us to bring the very latest in technology and know-how into our classrooms. A combination of these factors will ensure that our graduates are job-ready and be viewed as assets by prospective employers."
said His Excellency Dr. Yousef Al-Jendan, president of KFU.
"Our partnership with KFU is evidence of Honeywell's commitment to the region. This demonstrates our willingness to invest in and to contribute to the Middle East's economic growth by sharing our expertise, resources and technology," said Norm Gilsdorf, president, Honeywell Process Solutions. "The objective of this partnership is to work with KFU to develop a pool of knowledgeable and skilled process automation professionals. Ultimately, it is the people that drive any industry and we need to facilitate the development of critical skills within the region."
The program will commence in September 2009 and will include the launch of a summer internship program and academic achievement awards for six students, in addition to regular seminars and career days hosted by Honeywell executives. KFU faculty will benefit from opportunities to familiarize themselves with the latest technology by participating in Honeywell projects. Honeywell will also work with KFU to implement training and recruitment programs and install Honeywell technology in the University's laboratories.
