Lusail Awarded "Best Mixed Use Development" in Qatar at CNBC Arabian Commercial Property Awards 2009

The event is part of the International Property Awards, the world's most prestigious competition dedicated to finding the best real estate professionals across the globe.

Lusail has been granted the 5 stars award for the "Best Mixed Use Development". Accordingly, later this year, Lusail and other top scoring winners from the Arabian Property Awards will compete against other winning companies from Europe & Africa, the UK, the Americas and Asia Pacific to find the ultimate World's Best in each category.

Lusail, which covers 35 km2 north of Doha, is not only Qatar's largest domestic real estate project, it is one of the most prestigious community developments currently being undertaken in the region and world at large. In recent months, the vision for Lusail, which places community and local traditions at the forefront, has sprung to life as the various districts have quickly begun to take shape.

There has been significant progress on infrastructure works, with much of the earthworks for the expansive 35 km2 site already completed. In addition, the construction packages for several of the 17 districts have been awarded and work on them is already well underway.

Entries were judged by a panel of professionals whose collective knowledge of the property industry is second to none and unsurpassed by any other property awards. This year's judges include Eric Pickles, chairman of the Conservative Party, Ben Wood, industry head property markets of Google UK; Peter Bolton King, group chief executive of the National Federation of Property Professionals; Imtiaz Farookhi, chief executive of the National House Building Council; Christopher Hall, president elect of FIABCI; Wilhelm Harnish, Master Builders of Australia (MBA); Thijs Stoffer, International Consortium of Real Estate Agents Association (ICREA); Helen Shield, editor-in-chief of International Homes magazine and Gillian Farr, head of design of Laura Ashley Home.
