Running from 24-25 November in the Monarch Hotel, Dubai, the conference will provide a forum for industry professionals to discuss, debate and review a variety of hot industry topics.

The first day is the Business Conference, themed 'Building Future Cities of the Middle East - Opportunities, Challenges and Lessons Learned' chaired by Sheikh Khalfan Saeed Al Ka'abi from the Construction & Contracting Committee of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ADDCCI), with JAFZA's Chief Communications Officer, Mr Ibrahim al Janahi, and Dr Imad Al Jamal, vice chairman of the UAE Contractors Association.

The Big 5 Technical Conference will kick off on day two with a focus on those working in an engineering role. Sustainability & Green Environmental Engineering, Energy Saving Solutions & District Cooling and Project Management will all be discussed, with the leading technical figures from the region speaking, including Mr Martin Seaward-Case, director of contracts & procurement and chairman of the UAE board at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Hydrogenics Corporation's CEO, Mr Daryl Wilson and Mr Mario Seneviratne, managing director of Green Technologies and FIMechE, PNng and LEED Faculty Member.

Paula Al Chami, event director for The Big 5, said:

"The conference topics for this year's The Big 5 have been chosen as a direct result of today's most demanding issues, providing industry professionals with the opportunity to share their views, findings and recommendations with an international audience. This year, The Big 5 is taking its first steps to becoming Carbon Neutral and we are dedicated to ensuring that we educate our exhibitors and visitors as much as we can. With this in mind, several of the conference topics have been formulated around the environment and what can be done to encourage 'green' building practices."

Last year, 90% of The Big 5 Conference delegates said they would attend the 2009 Conference and with this year's event being free to attend, places are already running out fast.

Bringing together some of the most influential personnel from every sector of the building and construction industry from across the world, The Big 5's conference is renowned for hosting some of the most innovative ideas and solutions from some of the industry's most influential players.

The Big 5 exhibition will take place at Dubai World Trade Centre from 23 to 26 November 2009.
