The cheque was presented by Mr. Ghanim Al-Kuwari, Chief Operating Officer - Administration, Qatargas, to Mr. Nasser Ghanim Al Khelaifi, President of Qatar Tennis Federation. The contribution is part of the Qatargas' social investment programme that provides support for various sports and cultural activities that takes place in the country.
Mr. Ghanim Al-Kuwari said; "We are glad to be part of such a prestigious championship. Supporting such events stems from our corporate citizenship initiatives. Qatargas has partnered with Qatar Tennis Federation during many major events over the past years and we will continue our support in promoting sporting and other social events in Qatar."
Sony Ericsson Championships - Doha 2009 - is the culmination of the Sony Ericsson Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour. World's top eight single players and top four double teams from 2009 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour season will compete in this event in an attempt to win the important title and a share of the fabulous $4.45m in prize money.
