Daimler AG has invested over €1.8bn in the development of the new Sprinter and is confident that Sprinter has not only met the specifications set by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority but exceeded it.

Ewan Ramsay, General Manager, Gargash Enterprises said:

"The New Generation Sprinter offers more interior space, more comfort and more safety while maintaining the durability and reliability resulting in a very competitive product offering and value for money. With this new product we will expand our strong position in this region."

The Sprinter for the GCC comes with custom-made specifications for the Gulf Cooperation Council markets and government regulations for School Buses.

The first fleet of 7 buses was handed over to The German International School in Dubai, Mr. Hubert Brinks, School Master received the keys on behalf of the school and said that "The constant search for providing better and safe facilities for our children, led us to our association with such a world renowned brand and we are sure that our parents and students are going to love this vehicle"

This high-end bus offers superior luxury along with exceptional performance and enhanced safety. With an overall length of 7.345 meters, the coach is striking to look at with aerodynamic contours and aesthetically conceived interiors.

The Sprinter raises the already outstanding passive safety performance a further notch. Each seat is equipped with three-point seat belts. The driver's seat and the outer co-driver's seat are

fitted with belt tensioners, which allow them to monitor whether all children are safely seated in their respective seats.

The Sprinter has a new-generation Electronic Stability Program (ESP) known as ADAPTIVE ESP, which consists of Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBS) and Brake Assist System (BAS). In addition to the usual parameters, this system is now also able to determine the mass and the centre of gravity. This and other new functions allow ADAPTIVE ESP to intervene with even greater sensitivity and precision in critical situations.

High standards of passive safety are one of the basic values of the Mercedes-Benz brand and the Sprinter is no exception. In an accident, controlled energy absorption is provided by the side members and the power train. Intelligent repair systems like the bolted-on front-end module, "repair shoes" which allow sectional replacement of the side members and divided sidewall panelling all help to reduce the cost of repairing accident damage.

Each bus will carry 21 students, which each child having his/her own dedicated seat and more than enough space and most importantly Mercedes-Benz values of safety, comfort, reliability and technology are embodied in the Sprinter which by itself ensures that the children are being transported in the safest manner possible.
