Ahlia University marks launch of Continuing Education Centre

Under the auspices of Professor Abdullah Al Hawaj, Ahlia University held a ceremony this morning at the Gulf Hotel to mark the inauguration of Ahlia Centre for Continuing Education (ACCE). The ceremony was attended by members of business community in Bahrain and representatives of national companies and managers in charge of training and development as well as members of academic and administrative staff at Ahlia University.
He stressed the importance of developing human resources in the Kingdom and the Gulf region in order to raise the levels of efficiency in administrative, technical and professional areas. "Skills development will ultimately enhance the contribution to the of the national economy," he said. The ACCE will promote and support self-development to be well-prepared for the continuous changes taking place in our world,' he added.
Next, Ms. Rabab Al Ghawas, Director of Human Resources and Administrative Services at the Labour Fund ( Tamkeen) delivered a speech in which she welcomed the establishment of the Ahlia Centre for Continuing Education and stressed the importance of cooperation between education and training institutions with the Labour Fund to achieve the common goals of developing the skills of Bahraini manpower and strengthen national cadres in all aspects.
Later, Ms. Thaira Al Shirawi, Director of ACCE briefed the attendants on the programmes to be offered by the Centre which will include training workshops and courses in the following disciplines: Leadership and Management - Sales and Marketing - Career Development - Human Resources Management and Organizational Development - Computer Skills - Train the Trainers and Workplace Essentials.
"The ACCE strives to achieve excellence in professional education. To us, the first step is to understand current training needs and requirements," she said. "In order to provide the most relevant professional education services, we at the ACCE have conducted in-depth research into training needs. This research included conducting interviews with heads of human resources departments in a variety of respected companies in order to find out what they are looking for in a training provider," she added.
Ahlia Centre for Continuing Education will offer training programmes starting from November. The first programme will be on "Brand Positioning and Product and Service Launch" . The Programme will be conducted in association with the University of Georgia State University in the U.S. with which Ahlia University maintains an agreement for academic cooperation.
