The delegation was hosted at Dubai International Academic City (DIAC), the largest LEED certified project in the Middle East, where Nandi presented an overview of the sustainable building projects implemented by Tecom Investments. A brief presentation on Enpark's sustainable master plan highlighted the cluster's key features on clean technology. Nandi also outlined the challenges faced by Tecom Investments throughout its initiative and how these were overcome.
Nandi said:
"The various LEED certified projects undertaken by Tecom Investments particularly at DIAC and the Tecom management office (the greenest commercial interior in the Middle East) have positioned Tecom as a forerunner in sustainable development implementation. The visit by the Australian delegation is a testament to our leadership role in green technology, and we are pleased to raise awareness on sustainability not just within the region, but internationally as well."
"Deciding to go green is not only a decision that will benefit the environment and the community, but also makes sound business sense as has been demonstrated by the financial benefits that organizations accrue on taking the green route," added Nandi.
The visit by the Australian delegation comes close on the heels of the launch of Tecom Investments' Sustainable Development Report, the first of its kind to be released by a company based in the Middle East. The report highlights results from the implementation of Tecom Investments' Sustainable Development Policy instituted in 2006 - the first such initiative among corporate entities in the region.
