The new logos are designed to celebrate the beginning of Omega's five-year partnership as the title sponsor of the two events, reflecting both the excitement and growing profile of Dubai in the world of sports.

"These logos are a symbol of our partnership with Omega, and signify how proud we are to welcome the leading Swiss watchmaker on board,"

said Mohamed JumaBuamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of 'golf in Dubai', the promoter and organiser of the events.

"These two events have catalysed the process of enhancing the image of the City of Dubai as an ideal golfing destination and we'll keep putting our best foot forward," added Buamaim, who also praised Dubai Aluminum (Dubal) for their immense contributions in making the events a great success.

"Their support, as main sponsor, has been monumental from the outset and helped in creating real impact long before names like Tiger Woods, Annika Sorenstam and Ernie Els brought their famous presence to the city. We value their role and hold them in high esteem.

"We are beginning a new journey with Omega as the title sponsor, and together we will strive to deliver events befitting the global image of the brand Dubai," said Buamaim ahead of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters which gets under way at the Emirates Golf Club from December 7 to 12, 2009.

Official timekeeper of the Olympic Games until 2020, Omega is no stranger to big-time sponsorships. "I think our common objective of promoting Dubai and our drive for perfection will lead to a perfect partnership," he said.

Nayla Hayek, a member of the Swatch Group Board of Directors, shares his opinion: "Our agreement with 'Golf in Dubai' to be the title sponsor of their events clearly shows our commitment to the development of sport in the region," she said.

"Both the Dubai Desert Classic and the Dubai Ladies Masters have established their credentials as the 'majors' of the region, showcasing a top quality field every year and that is something commendable and we are naturally delighted to be the title sponsor of the two prestigious events," she added.

In keeping with the tradition, a star-studded field is expected to line up for the honours in this year's Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. All 108 players in the field are capable of winning the event on their day, but certainly fans will also be keen to follow the progress of veterans Laura Davies, Sophie Gustafson, GwladysNocera, defending champion AnjaMonke and the new Swedish sensation Anna Nordqvist, who will formally seal her "Rookie of the Year" award in Dubai.

"These players will join some of the top LPGA players and the announcement to that effect will be made shortly," said Buamaim.

'Golf in Dubai' is backed by Omega as the title sponsor and Dubal (Dubai Aluminium) as the sponsor while BMW, CNN, Emirates Airline, Emirates NBD, Gulf News, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Jumeirah Hotels, MasterCard and wasl are co-sponsors in its drive to showcase the emirate's vibrant golfing scene to a worldwide audience.
