Dubai Taxi to apply revised tariff for people with special needs

Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced on 4th October a revised taxi tariff for its vehicle fleet designated for people with special needs to bring it on equal footing with the normal taxi fares.

Yousef Mohammed Al Ali, Director of Fleet Operations at DTC said:

"Dubai Taxi Corporation has launched this type of service for people with special needs for a purely humanitarian and social goal. Five vehicles serving people with special needs have been designated for the service and fitted with special equipment to facilitate passenger mobility getting in and out the vehicle. These vehicles operate by a trip taximeter except for two of them which are engaged through advance booking system."


He added that within the context of improving the service provided and ensuring customer satisfaction and in order to tighten control over these vehicles in terms of income and traveled mileages, these vehicles have been fitted with trip fare meters as those used by DTC fleet which comprises 3,503 taxis deployed to deliver a number of services provided to customers, including District Taxi, Airport Taxi, Hatta Taxi, ladies and Family Taxi and Taxis for people with special needs in addition to other normal taxis. More than 7,000 drivers are involved in the taxis service working on shift-basis around the clock.

Mr. Yousef Al Ali emphasized that the revised taxi tariff for people with special needs will be implemented as follows: In case a vehicle of a van category takes off from the airport, the fare meter would start at an opening value similar to the other vans operating within the DTC fleet at Dubai International Airport area.

He further confirmed that vehicles of people with special needs operate 24 hours a day at the rate of five trips daily and the service is available at Dubai International Airport and can be ordered through the Booking and Despatch Center on phone number 04-2080808.

The Director of Operations Dep't went on saying: "This contribution of Dubai Taxi Corporation as well as its other services comes in implementation of RTA's vision of providing safe and smooth transport for all".

He emphasized that RTA in general and DTC in particular are making keen efforts to expand and develop the scope of their services within the framework of RTA strategy which is aimed at providing excellent services in consistence with the positive changes being witnessed by Dubai and in consolidation of the its profile as a prestigious world centre in all walks of life. He pointed out that Dubai Taxi Corporation is always committed to developing its working mechanism to cope with the international developments in this vital field of service by utilizing various types of modern technologies that enable its working staff to perform their duties in harmony with the process of progress and construction witnessed by the UAE in all fields.
