Central Bank of Bahrain participates in the first Islamic Finance Conference in Germany

Mr. Khalid Hamad, Executive Director, Banking Supervision at the Central Bank of Bahrain participated in the first Islamic Finance Conference held in Germany on October 29, 2009.

This event covered various aspects of Islamic finance, including developments in the insurance sector and capital markets sectors.

The aim of this conference was to inform the world about the importance of Islamic banking and its increasing magnitude. Mr. Khalid Hamad reviewed Bahrain's experience in Islamic Finance and discussed the criteria, legislation and market practices in this area, as well as the regulatory methods adopted by the CBB with this regard.

During this event, Mr. Hamad also shed light on the challenges facing this growing sector from a regulatory perspective and presented solutions to some of them.

This conference was organized by BAFIN, The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority.
